METRUM-GLASS

Vision Control for glass bottles measurements

Metrum-Glass consists of a conveyor belt made with a white surface with dedicated retro-illuminated areas. The conveyor is mounted with vision system for the inspection that equipped up to three cameras element.

The system is able to analyse 100% of the produced bottles and to perform dimensional controls. In particular, it is possible to measure the neck hole dimension (diameter), the maximum shape (length) and the bottle height.
In this way, you can detect bottles with a through hole below the accepted tolerance and bottles that have a dimensional size bigger than the selected tolerances.

Through Hole Control (Camera A)
The best way to provide measurement to the neck dimension is to check it through the hole using a camera over its top. To achieve the result it is necessary to illuminate the element with a back-light with a special element present in the conveyor. In this way the light go trough the glass and maximise the contrast between the walls of the neck.

Bottle Shape Control (Camera B)
The shape of the bottle can be controlled with a camera from the top as well. We need a different field of view to perform the measure. The illumination is the same as before, we again use a backlight coming from the conveyor.

Bottle height control (Camera C)
The bottle height can be controlled with a camera placed in an orthogonal to the way of the bottle movement. The bottle will be backlit with a light coming from a side panel.
